Live Free or Die (Hard)

Fred and I had a "Step-father~Daughter Date" tonight. It was highly enjoyable. Went to Pie-tanza and then back home to drop off the left overs. Fred took my car keys to let himself into the house and locked them in. So then we had to sort of bumble around calling people, and checking to see if the next door neighbors (who were actually out of town) had a spare key. Fred ended up going in through the tiny open basement window. Then we went and saw the new Die Hard movie, Live Free or Die Hard.

I was expecting it to be, you know-- lame. But it was actually an excellent action flick, and my new favorite of the Die Hards. McClane was incredible, death defying feats spiting his age (but still showing it a little, which I liked). His daughter was tough, and the kid who played Farrell was adorable and perfect for the part (same guy who was adorable and perfect for the part in Dodgeball). I loved the villain, played excellently by Timothy Olyphant. What was so great about this movie, other than the incredible stunts, was the great comedic timing. There were real laugh out loud lines in this film, including, but not limited to "Mai? Asian chick, likes to kick people? Yeah, last time I saw her she was at the bottom of an elevator shaft with an SUV up her ass." It's all pretty good. There's a highly unlikely bit with a plane that sort of annoyed me, but you know-- action flick of the 21st century. There seems to be some unwritten rule about all of them having a plane doing something, somewhere. Also helicopters. But anyway.

I recommend seeing it, if you dig action flick. Or Bruce Willis. I do both of those things, so you can imagine my current cinematic high. This will surely be enough to hold me over for four more days. And you know what happens then, children.

TRANSFORMERS

And that's all I can say about that.

<3h.
