While this is in direct response to your comment, Red, it's not just to you.
I mean this in the gentlest way possible, and it's difficult to understand or to express adequately, but here goes:
My relationship with Jesus has nothing to do with organized religion. Jesus himself caused one of the biggest upsets in organized religion ever. He did not like legalism, he did not like judgment. Christianity is a religion. It has done some really really good things, but it has done some really really bad things as well. My Jesus has not done those really really bad things. IT IS NOT ORGANIZED RELIGION THAT I SERVE!
Being saved has nothing to do with what church you go to. I know some Christians who don't even go to church, they just talk to other Christians and hang out with them (aka fellowship). It has nothing to do with what translation of the Bible you read. The whole point of the Bible is that it's the story of the God we love. That's why we read it. If you want to get to know a teacher before you take their class, you read their book. It's how you determine whether or not their teaching is sound, if they sound like a person you could admire. Different thing, but sort of the same deal.
So there's that.
Real faith equals relationship, does not equal organized religion.
And now? One of my favorite people in the world is getting married and I have to go get ready to wear a shockingly brown bridesmaid dress and try my damnedest not to flirt with two of the groom's completely adorable brothers.
Love.
H.
PS. Listened to Louis Armstrong sing "What a Wonderful World" this morning. It was beautiful.
