No. 166: Music and your weekly update.

Okay, so it's been awhile.
This issue of Hannah's Neurotic Blog features two (count 'em- one, two) seven songs, making a double feature.

I went home on Saturday and apartment stuff shopped with mom, which was fun, and saw (most of) Prince Caspian with her and Victoria. It was pretty good, I must say. The guy that played Caspian was not ugly.

I recently saw Indiana Jones as well. If you haven't seen it yet, skip to the next paragraph, but YO! What was with the aliens?!! Really Lucas? Really Spielberg? Anyway.

I now want to see: Kung Fu Panda, Wall.E, Get Smart, Incredible Hulk (b/c COME ON!, Edward Norton?! yes, thanks), and Wanted. Should be nifty.

I'm still sick. I can't shake it. I just want to sleep for hours and hours in the sun and feel healthy again, but here I am at work. My boss is not yet here and I have nothing to do. It's going to be a long day. So anyway-- here are the songs.

  1. To Be Young// Ryan Adams: b/c it rocks and reminds me of two years ago in a good way.
  2. The Comeback // Shout Out Louds: hadn't listened to them since the last time they made this list and missed them.
  3. Ms. Jackson// Outkast: They're just good. I had the album playing a while ago, b/c I listened to "Fresh and Clean" when I got out of the shower, but yeah-- anyway. This is very 8th grade.
  4. Jenny Don't Be Hasty// Paolo Nutini: Check him out if you haven't already.
  5. Florida// Modest Mouse: For the longest time I never listened to this song b/c the beginning was so raucous and came on the heels of a chill song. Then I let it run one day and was so pleasantly surprised. It's a great song and a lot of fun. Isaac Brock's voice is perfect for their music.
  6. Gold Watch // Lupe Fiasco: I know, he's on here every week almost, but this song just makes me happy. Especially b/c it comes in the middle of his socially conscious album and is about being kind of a G. I like it.
  7. Goodnight Moon/ Shivaree: Kill. Bill. The end.

  1. Time to Pretend// MGMT: I only really like this song from this album. Some of them are good, but this one has a special, indefineable OOMPH. Check it.
  2. Handlebars// Flobots: Now it's radio-made super popular but Jordan Peterman first introduced me to them and this song. I still have the text on my cell wherein he schooled me. Anyway-- it's a great song b/c of its truth. The same kid that brags he can ride his bike with no handlebars is the same kid who grows up and gains the power to guide a missile by satellite. It's a little terrifying.
  3. Fugee-La// The Fugees: Because of Ricky. And that's all I'm going to say.
  4. Good Vibrations// The Beach Boys: Driving at sundown through Fairfax to this song is one of the most legitimate ways to spend an evening. I forgot how much I love them. "Don't Worry, Baby" almost made it, but this one has special sentimentality.
  5. That's the Way// Led Zeppelin: It's Zeppelin. No explaination needed.
  6. F-Stop Blues// Jack Johnson: Because I haven't listened to him in a while, and this is probably one of his best songs.
  7. Rock Bottom Riser// Smog: Joe told me about them/him a while ago. "Drinking at the Dam" is another great song. But it's way to depressing. Anyway-- there's that.
So, my boss told me she doesn't have anything for me today and told me to go home and just come in tomorrow at noon. This works out well for me. I'm going to go to Jenny's now, get a pool pass, and come back here to lay in the sun and sleep. Have a gorgeous day, everyone.

Cheers.
H.

HANNAH! Okay, GO SEE THE HULK! Edward Norton was AMAZING in it and A SUPER STUD which I feel like is unusual for him but omgoodness, I want to go see it again. And I agree with you about Indiana Jones. Weird. I also saw Kung Fu panda and it was hilaaaaarious. So that's my two cents.
