The PS3 is finally hooked up. I'm working out the router/wireless kinks. Does anyone know how to get the IPs not to compete? I want to be able to use my computer's wireless and the Triple's at the same time. Let me know, if you know. And also my UPnP is freaking out, but I'm still downloading. Anyway.
Sittingin 18th century lit. I have a paper due Friday. I looked at the topics this morning and like none of them. This is going to be a sad 6-8 pages, man. But I'll knock it out tonight and tomorrow and it'll be done. The next paper will rock. Mostly b/c this one will suck and I actually want to perform well in this class. Plus my TA rocks and should have something interesting to read if he has to read it anyway, yeah?
I didn't do songs for Sunday, but I can do them now, if you like. Couldn't find the first song on the playlist, but here they are.
Come get breakfast at Carma's tomorrow (8:30-12:30), and say hullo.
- No One's Gonna Love You by Band of Horses- Ccease to Begin is a phenomenal album and I'm totally in love with it. His voice is so gorgeous and they've got these jangly haunting guitars. The whole thing is good. This one especially and then "Is There a Ghost".
- Voice On Tape (Robot Explosion Mix) by Jenny Owen Youngs: Heard this by accident and I can't remember where. I love her, b /c she's cute and a little horrible, too. Like, the softer voiced version of Joanna Newsom, or a less dark version of PJ Harvey.
- Hang Me Up to Dry by Cold War Kids: I did not buy into them until I heard this song on WTMD at work the other day. The album is great. They feel a little like if you smashed Kings of Leon and Cartel together, with the attitude of We Are Scientists. They're going for Elbow, but not quite making it. It's still good, though. The guitarist isn't exactly inspired, but there's some great original sound there.
- Bixby Canyon Bridge by Death Cab for Cutie: I had thought I was done with them. I really did. But then I had to download the album, just to check it out, and was expected to be as disappointed with it as I was with Plans. But it's not bad, man. And this song is GORGEOUS and it almost made me cry the first time I heard it.
- Summer Wind by Madeleine Peyroux: My favorite cover of a Sinatra song thus far. I like his version better, but hers is so great, and her voice is incredible. Try out her cover of Dylan's "You're Gonna Make Me Lonesome When You Go", too. Also "I'll Look Around" and "I'm Alright".
- In the Morning of the Magicians by The Flaming Lips: I rediscovered them, and good LORD am I glad. This is such a fun song, and it's good music for this kind of weather, although Carlos thinks they're more of a summer band. Whatever, man. Wayne Coyne is a man for all seasons.
- MMM, MMM, MMM, MMM by Crash Test Dummies: Good for a slightly morbid sing-a-long on the way back from Poe's grave with a bunch of people. I missed them. Downloading the album b/c I actually have been chased down by "Two Knights and Maidens". I think it has something to do with the Renn Fest. Anyway-- I can't get over how deep this guys voice is. It's good.
Cheers.

Ha ha, I played a show with Jenny Owen Youngs way back in the day. She was drunk and her patter was vaguely coherent. Lovely voice, though.
