No. 213: Clementine

That's the title of one of my favorite Eliot Smith songs. The Pandora station for CocoRosie is phenomenal for quiet Saturday mornings.  And for relaxing after arguments. Both of which qualify today.
People, basically, fail to communicate well sometimes and as a result say stupid things and hurt one another. It's such a lack of faith on everyone's part. But the Lord's words were sweet this morning, so how bad a day can it possibly be?

Anyway, here are the songs since I probably will forget to do them tomorrow.

1. Let it Be Me - Social Distortion: It took me a long time to like Social D, but now I really really do. And sometimes, one just needs to walk around the JHU campus in giant headphones, blasting them. It's cathartic.
2. True Affection - The Blow: Found them by accident the other day. Trying to download Blow from piratebay and got this instead. They're great though. Cute, kinda. But this is a great song.
3. Do It Again- Nada Surf: Driving back from home on Tuesday I wanted to hear them for some reason. I'd forgotten how much I enjoy Nada Surf. Their show was last night and I could've gone, but making the treck to 9:30 would've been a bit much for me. Anway, there are great lines in this song, my favorite being, "Maybe this weight was a gift/ Like I had to see what I could lift".
4. Body Breaks - Devendra Banhart: Like "When They Come", "Body Breaks" is a favorite DB track to fall asleep to. It's really lovely and sweet. He's such a weird guy, though.
5. Against Pollution- The Mountain Goats: Listened to my three favorite Mountain Goats albums while reading Aristotle yesterday. Oh John Darnielle, make me cry.
6. Heart of Glass- Nouvelle Vague: Pandora radio. One of the greatest 80s covers I've ever heard. Honestly, I love Blondie, but listening to Heart of Glass by them just grates on me. This is a fair rendition.
7. Storm - Jose Gonzalez: Simply appropriate for the week gone by.  (No link on playlist)

Cheers.
