no. 228: world

this morning i read about God's promises to abram. he becomes abraham, the father of a race. then i read psalm 8, a song to God about how amazing it is that He cares for us, when He has made so many other things we would consider greater. the author of the psalm expresses wonder that the the same Mind that created the heavens and the earth also considers us in its care.

sometimes i walk around in the world and the ugliness and evil in it crushes me. it's probably not healthy, but i've spent days on the couch just being freaked out at how bad everything has gotten. then there are days like today, where not necessarily everything goes right, and not necessarily all of my problems are gone... but there's sunshine. and that's enough. beauty outside, a lovely sunset, yummy dinner and then stumbleupon (b/c i'm a time waster in that way). stumble upon may be a tool to both help and harm, i suppose. it reminds me that the world is still kind of a mess, but there is some absolute and definite Good and Beauty out there and that's reassuring.

check it out.
